ASI releases pictures of 22 rooms of the Taj Mahal
The widespread debate about the 22 locked rooms in the basement of the Taj Mahal, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has tried to diffuse the tension by releasing pictures of the restoration work done inside these rooms.
Agra ASI chief R K Patel told that the pictures are live on the ASI website as a part of the January 2022 newsletter and anyone can view them by visiting their website.
Tourism industry sources claim that these pictures have been released into the public domain to quell the spread of misinformation about the contents of these rooms in the country.
ASI releases pictures of 22 rooms of the Taj Mahal
The pictures, which were released after the Allahabad High Court quashed the PIL filed by Dr. Rajnish Kumar for the opening of these rooms, showed extensive restoration work being done in these closed rooms, including plaster and lime panning. ASI sources confirmed that the restoration work in these rooms had cost Rs. six lakhs.
The Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World which is considered as the most photogenic destinations of India. It is one of the most exquisite structures ever built by any emperor. It was constructed by the fifth Mughal emperor in the fond memory of his favorite wife Mumtaj Mahal. The Taj Mahal in terms of architecture, is one of the most symmetrical structures in the world, constructed using pure white marble and adorned with precious and semi precious stones. The construction started in 1631 and got completed in 1653 AD; 20,000 workers worked day and night together for 22 years.
These days there are a lot of debates about the Taj Mahal’s identity of being a tomb or temple. The follower of both the religion claims it to be an integral part of their culture.
